Worlds Within Worlds is a bite-sized retro platformer with a commitment to accessibility that strives to be fun for all ages and levels of skill! The game is split up into five Worlds with five levels each. The player's objective in each level is to navigate an intricate obstacle and collect three Golden Leaves. Each World introduces completely new obstacles and hazards into the mix, ensuring that every level feels unique and novel.
Many challenges in the game are designed to be completed in a variety of ways to encourage expressive play. This expression also extends to the game's color palette; each of the 25 levels have a unique color scheme, all of which are available to the player to alternate between. This also acts as an accessibility feature; ensuring players with color vision deficiency can always switch to a palette that works best for them. The game also features a time-freezing Butterfly as an assist mechanic that encourages participation with a partner. This allows Players of differing levels of game literacy to play together and have a shared experience.
In addition to this core goal of accessibility for all players, Worlds Within Worlds has also been exhaustively designed to be speedrunner friendly. The placement of every obstacle and enemy has been tuned to create optimal paths for players to discover and master. Where most players casually finish the game in roughly 30 minutes, the current world-record is around just six minutes.
